Let me say right out of the gate that if you are not a follower of Christ, you probably won’t want to read any further. You are welcome to, of course, but you most likely won’t get it…not one bit…and I don’t want your mass-mentality response. If, however, you consider yourself a person of faith, then I have something very important to share with you. This is not my message but what the Holy Spirit prompted me to share as God told me. Let me explain.
I was wanting to sleep in on Saturday (my only day to do so), but the Holy Spirit prompted me to wake up. I resisted, rolled over, and decided to go back to sleep. “I’ll write it down later,” my sleepy self said. That’s when Jesus said, “No, I’m serious. Get up…right now. Write this down as it is very important.” Since God has been providing me inspirational messages, poems, blogs, and books since I was young, I knew better than to ignore the second prompting. He had something to tell me. I immediately sat up, got pen and paper, and began writing out what the God had to say.
At first, I thought maybe this was just for me – to affirm my position is correct – to give me a sense of peace in the midst of the chaos. However, every day since then, the Holy Spirit has been nudging me to share this you, my fellow believers. Unfortunately, we live in a time where expressing opinions contrary to the masses is dangerous. For the record, I am not comfortable passing this along to you, yet I must be obedient and faithful as an instrument of the Most High God.
So here it is as God gave it to me: As followers of Christ, we were never intended to follow the masses. Never. We are called to follow the One. If we take a look back in history, every time when the masses gather, Jesus is not there. He is not at the abortion clinics screaming for women’s rights. No, He is giving life to us and protecting the most vulnerable of us. He isn’t celebrating divorces and pushing for a better way of life without your spouse. Instead, He is the fabric and glue that holds marriages together. He isn’t in hate speech that divides us and creates wedges between us. He is the bridge that brings us together, reminding us we all suffer the human condition, are in this together, and must love each other like ourselves. Jesus definitely doesn’t live in the community of the entitlement attitude and movement to be victims. He had victory over death so that we may live life as overcomers.
Go even further back to Biblical times, and Jesus did not tell his disciples to go home, shelter in place where it would be safe. Absolutely not! He told them, “drop what you are doing and come follow me.” Following Jesus has never been safe and will always involve risk. But if we are truly His followers, we need to go forth in faith, not hold back in fear. There should be a difference in and about us than the rest of the world! If we will not be His light for the loss, then who? Our light is not designed to be shown only in the safety of our home.
At times, the masses seem divided. It is then we need to look at the heart of the masses. Jesus is never on the side of control, manipulation, greed, fear or lies. He IS the truth and the way. Follow His light, etch His word in your hearts and be open to the Holy Spirit. Being scared is different than being fearful. I know this firsthand because I have gone against the crowds all of my life. It isn’t a comfortable place, but I believe it is exactly where He wants us. Follow the money and the motivation; God only has plans for us to prosper.
When the entire world told me my two diseases were incurable, I found Jesus outside of the crowd whispering to me that healing was possible. I was scared, but I mustered up the faith to believe. I took His hand and walked with Him, not knowing where we would go but trusting Him. Jesus doesn’t need to scream and shout, and to be honest, He won’t. He allows us to draw our own conclusions. Choose Him! Mass acceptance, political correctness and popularity are not where He resides. And if you still aren’t convinced to rethink where you land on some issues, consider this: The crowd voted to crucify Jesus Christ (the only perfect person) on the cross even though He was innocent, and they elected to set a murderer free.
I proudly go against the mass hysteria and boldly live my life for when Jesus is with me, who can be against me? I will not live in fear nor will I buy into the lies and deceit. I am a truth seeker, how about you? I see now how my book is so incredibly relevant right and why God told me to release it despite COVID-19. I hope you will be brave enough to defy YOUR diagnosis (a mindset of fear) and be a witness of God’s incredible love, mercy, grace, strength and protection.
