By now, you have heard the outcome of the Johnny Depp/Amber Heard defamation trial. The world owes Johnny Depp an apology! I was about 99 percent sure Amber was falsely accusing him not because I knew for a fact what transpired but because our world has become woke and weak. We live in a day where accusations can be made without proof, and we immediately assume guilt. I am angered at such behavior because the real victims of abuse are getting lost in all the lies, drama and noise. Social media has made assumption and immediate guilt the norm, and it is a sickness we need to eradicate.
People around the globe decided Johnny Depp was guilty based on social media posts and Tweets. They didn’t have the facts nor did they seek to get both sides of the story because it is much easier to point fingers than it is to find the truth. We’ve lost our moral compass and have forgotten gossip is a sin as serious as murder, especially when someone’s reputation is at stake. Shame on everyone! How would you feel if lies were publicly told about you?
Innocent people’s lives are being ruined by a mob mentality, and if you think you are immune, you would be wrong. You could be next! No one is safe from this vicious, sick mindset that doesn’t care about logic, facts and getting to the truth. We were all victims of this with the COVID-19 epidemic and vaccination. The CDC released false information and then let the population do the rest with fear, hate, shame and condemning messages to anyone who didn’t buy into the lie. A whole lot of assuming took place, and it is still destroying us as a country.
I watched a 2006 comedy with Luke Wilson called Idiocracy that isn’t all that funny anymore because we are living it. The storyline is America has been dumbed down by propaganda to the point where they can no longer think for themselves, and they believe anything they are told. Through the span of 500 years, people lose the ability to speak other than very small words and grunts.
Inflation is so high no one can afford anything and relies on the government, who gives them whatever marketers pay them to give. The FDA and CDC have been bought by a company and are a mouthpiece for their products, which line everyone’s pockets expect the America people. The United States is in shambles, and everyone is so dumb they accept this as the “new normal.” Sound familiar folks?
Our big election isn’t until November, but the slander, slime, lies, deceit and propaganda has begun. To think people base their voting decision based upon ads dumbfounds me, and it also scares me to death. Voting is something we should take very seriously, and we shouldn’t make any assumptions, especially if we saw it on social media. Every citizen needs to do their homework and research candidates as well as actually check out their voting record. Actions speak louder than words! Anything goes anymore in political ads, so I wouldn’t trust any of them.
Whether it is an individual, company, crisis, cause or our country’s politics, we should never assume anything. As Albert Einstein said, “Question everything!” Take the time to get the facts first and use discernment, logic and good judgement. Jumping on the band wagon may get you likes on your Facebook feed, but it won’t do any of us any good.
If you find yourself getting caught up in gossip and making assumptions, take a step back. Ask yourself: how would I feel if this was done or said to me? If we all lived by the Golden Rule of “Do Under Others as You Would Have Them Do to You,” we could improve things dramatically. It would be an excellent start, and it begins with you.
