Besides helping me with my blog—and a bunch of other things—my Mom teaches fitness classes at the Glendale Foothills Aquatic Center on Mondays and Wednesdays. She has been helping people be Forever Fit for many years, and we opened our home up for a potluck last Friday.
We’ve held a potluck for the classes here before, but COVID shut that down for a few years. We were excited to once again celebrate the season together, and we had quite a few new folks. I’d like to say I assisted her with getting the house and yard ready, but alas, I did not! I just laid around and shedded my fur on the cleaned carpets. Woof!
Mom worked hard to get everything in order, and she made her famous Christmas Tree Cake. This is my 15th Christmas, and she’s made one every year I’ve been alive. It’s a favorite, and Dad was glad to have some folks help him eat it.
Close to 30 folks came over bringing all sorts of yummy dishes. I just loved Susie’s meatballs, and Marilyn’s plate of cheese did not disappoint. Linda’s dessert was the biggest hit. I didn’t have any, but everyone gobbled it up. I’m not sure if Dad shared the Deviled Eggs or not. Those were his favorite! Casseroles, sides, salads, chips, nuts, and desserts…no one went hungry!
The weather was absolutely perfect: sunny, in the 70s, and no wind. We couldn’t have requested a better day, and this allowed everyone to spread out. Mom loves bringing people together and building a community. These folks are sure fit, and Dad still doesn’t believe Joyce is in her 80s.
Mowgli was a bit overwhelmed. This was the most people he ever saw! I’m an old pro, so I was happy for the extra pets. I went inside and outside all afternoon long! I may not hear good, but I felt the love.
Thank you to Dee for helping with greeting everyone at the door and ensuring me or Mowgli didn’t bolt. We appreciate Joan leaving some her chicken lasagna, and we enjoyed it Saturday. Mom did her Christmas baking and was on her feet all day.
This was the first year both Forever Fit and Hatha Yoga classes participated, but it won’t be the last! We hope old friends re- connected and new friendships were made. I know I was tuckered out!
Many contributed to a gift for Mom, and she was taken back by the generosity. I see all the effort she puts into those classes and people, so I was happy for her. Thank you for your kindness to my Mom! You are the best. Merry Christmas one and all!
My mom, Lorraine Bossé-Smith, is kind enough to help me share my Great Adventures, big and small. My mom is a motivational speaker, corporate trainer, executive recruiter, business consultant, coach, fitness expert, and author of nine published books. More importantly, she’s the best doggy mom ever!
