I hope you had a nice Easter weekend. Ours didn’t start off too great. Because of my tweaked ankle and weak hips, I slipped on the stairs. I could hardly walk. Poor Mom was freaked out. Off to the emergency vet we went. Blue Pearl Vet Med in Scottsdale was the only one without a three-plus hour wait. We soon learned why.
They were nice enough, but they really pushed hard for thousands of dollars of tests that wouldn’t help me one bit. We got no answers, but they sent me home with Carprofen, an anti-inflammatory drug. Mom doesn’t like giving me drugs, but I needed something to help with the swelling and pain. If you have a true emergency, Blue Pearl is equipped to handle anything. Just plan on having to get a loan to pay for it and not seeing the same vet twice.
Dad decided to try cold laser on me, and the next, we visited The Pet Wellness Center right by our house. Dr. Burgess was awesome! She sat on the floor and talked with me. She’s concerned that my ankle hasn’t healed and might be something else like an infection. Although their services are more reasonable, it was still expensive. We opted for the cold laser therapy to see if that helps, and it did! The swelling went way down, and it reduced my pain. I was walking normal again!
Big tests are in my future, and I may require surgery yet. We appreciate good thoughts for healing, and I will keep you posted. Since I was up for walking, we thought a little park might be nice and drove on Cave Creek Road East to Dynamite Boulevard and went East. One mile down on the left is a free parking lot for Dynamite Park.
Dynamite Park is small, but it has a paved path around it. I’m sure people in Cave Creek frequent it, but it wasn’t really worth the drive for us. That being said, I always enjoy getting fresh air and sniffing around.
The park has human restrooms and few picnic tables. It doesn’t have a lot of shade, though. We did walk by a super-sized Saguaro. Wow! Did you know they don’t grow arms until they are at least 90 years old? This dude could tell some stories!
After the short loop, Mom thought lunch at Creekside Patio Grill would be nice. She had been once, and they have an outside patio. We were pleased to learn that they allow dogs, but we quickly realized this is not a quiet setting. A bar with TV screens everywhere had loud music playing and screaming humans. Dad said they were watching sports. Mom and Dad could barely hear each other, and although the service was friendly, they were beyond slow.
The food is fair and overpriced, so we won’t be going back. A positive was one of the workers saw me and came running out. “That’s Shiba Inu,” he said. Yup, that’s me! I got scratches. I truly am spoiled.
I feel like we skipped spring and went straight to summer. Ugh! I’m behind on blowing my coat. I’ll have to get on that. Watch out Mom, here it comes! Oh, the Easter Bunny did come, but I wasn’t able to catch him. Next year, I’ll sick Mowgli on him! Stay well.
