YOUR HEALTH
I’ve been teaching fitness classes for about 25 years now, and I always remind folks that a healthy lifestyle isn’t just to look and feel good. It’s about internal health and preparing ourselves for the “what if’s” of life. Lurking around the corner are accidents, illnesses, diseases and injuries that will attempt to take us out. However, if we do right by our bodies, we will be ready for the fight! What you do or don’t do today will determine how you fair with the what if’s that come your way in the future.
My husband and I got the delta variant of COVID in January. It hit us like a freight train with high fevers, body aches, fatigue, and crud that didn’t cease. We were in bed for 10 days straight, and that was with a healthy foundation. I had my COVID protocol and supplement arsenal ready to go and fought the good fight.
Those who do not take their health seriously may not win the battle. It’s a beast, no doubt about it. Our bodies are designed to fight off foreign invaders, but they need to be equipped to do so, and that requires daily care. The time to prepare for war isn’t when the enemy has invaded! You must be diligent about always being ready.
Once again, I am grateful I have chosen to live a healthy lifestyle that involves cardiovascular health (strong heart and lungs to cough that crud out!), muscle strength, dense bones and fighting immune system. All of it was tested and required to overcome the battle.
How are you? Should you get one of the variants of COVID, will your body be strong and capable or will it be too much to endure? Now is the time to ensure you are ready. Eat right, exercise, get plenty of restorative sleep and manage your stress in positive ways. The winter months are notorious for colds and flu’s so I encourage you to take extra vitamin C and zinc. May you stay well!
YOUR LIFE
Many people say the beginning of new habits is the hardest. In my 55 years of living on this planet, I would say starting something is much easier than maintaining it. When we start something new, we are determined and have high amounts of enthusiasm. We also have ignorance in our favor because we don’t know what we don’t know.
As time goes on, that is when it gets tough. Your attitude may shift as you encounter obstacles and struggles on your path. People cheer you on at the beginning but then move on to other things. You often find yourself alone. This is when you are introduced to yourself and find out if you really have what it takes to succeed and accomplish your goal.
People start diets all the time. Staying with the program…that’s the difficult part. Marrying someone is easy, but loving them through the ups and downs of life requires dedication. I’m not trying to discourage you from starting something. I think we do better with our eyes wide open. When we anticipate the struggle, we will be ready for it.
What are you made of? Are you someone who begins but never finishes? Do you have a long line of incomplete tasks and broken relationships or are you in it for the long haul despite the uphill climb? Our faith allows us to keep putting one foot in front of the other, and when our strength is depleted, God instills His in us. Victory goes to those who stay the course.
YOUR CAREER
Just like automobiles, if you do not fill the tanks with gasoline and service them on a regular basis, your people will sputter and break down without investing in them. We are seeing epic numbers of burnout in a time when losing people cannot be afforded due to staffing shortages. Yet, companies are not spending time or money on their people. It’s insane!
Don’t talk yourself out of training your teams. Don’t lie to yourself by saying “When things settle down, we’ll do something for them.” If you continue to procrastinate on supporting your people, you won’t have any good people left to bother about.
I have an excellent series called Lunch & Learns that offers great topics over the lunch hour, and they are extremely affordable. Please take a look and let’s talk about bringing some refreshment to your weary souls.
