Did I ever tell you the story of my parents picking our Phoenix home? Me and my brother, Edmond, were back in League City, Texas when they stopped for lunch with the realtor at the Streets of New York off the Carefree Highway in North Phoenix. As they walked in, mom saw a lady sitting outside with (wait for it…) her Shiba Inu dog! Mom said, “It’s a sign!”
She proceeded to greet the human and pet my relative, and after lunch, her and dad went to view a brand-new listing. It literally just popped up while they ate. Could it be my Shiba powers? All I can say is when they walked in, they knew it was our home. The rest is history, and you can read that blog HERE.
So why haven’t I reviewed The Streets of New York yet? I have no idea, but mom and I decided it was time. It is one of our favorite go-to places since it is across the street from our neighborhood.
They have a great outside patio that is dog friendly with views of our mountain. Yes, we call it Smith Summit. We’ve been to the tippy top! There are umbrellas on sunny days, and they pipe in music.
Inside seating is nice, so I am told. If it is too hot and I am not with my folks, they often sit in a booth. Either way, our Streets of New York has great service! Samantha knows mom well and brings her drink right to her. She fast and friendly!
I call it our Streets of New York because there are now 21 locations in the valley. A couple from New Jersey opened up the first one back in 1976 on Cactus and 32nd because they missed authentic New York pizza. My mom is picky and just loves their pizza! Their dough is always hand-crafted and never frozen.
Of course, their pasta dishes are delish! I love helping mom eat spaghetti. Yum! They also have great salads and sub sandwiches. The only thing mom hasn’t liked is their soup, which had too much tomato in it.
Their prices are reasonably, and they often have specials. Bless Samantha’s heart, she held down the fort during the shutdown. We tried to go on a regular basis to keep our local gem afloat. We highly recommend them and hope you’ll take advance of their lunch menu. You can’t beat the slice and salad. Bon appetite!
My mom, Lorraine Bossé-Smith, is kind enough to help me share my Great Adventures, big and small. My mom is a motivational speaker, corporate trainer, executive recruiter, business consultant, coach, fitness expert, and author of nine published books. More importantly, she’s the best doggy mom ever!
