My mom sure takes good care of me. Besides lots of adventures, she feeds me yummy food and gives me special treats that help my joints. She even brushes my teeth while singing me a silly song because I really don’t like getting my teeth cleaned. Her singing helps. Lately, she is de-furring me. Be prepared my friends! I’m blowing my coat rapidly, so that means a hot summer is coming.
Although I am outside a lot, my nails still need to be trimmed. Mom gave up doing that a long time ago. Let’s just say screaming and blood shed were involved. It wasn’t pretty. We recently discovered a new place that does nothing but pet grooming. Rather than having to schedule an appointment with the vet, we can walk in.
Desert Pawz Cage-Free Grooming is located at 2805 W Carefree Hwy Suite 113, Phoenix, AZ 85085. Mom couldn’t find a website, but look online for their hours of operation before you go. A very friendly gal will meet you, get your information from your human, and take the money (very affordable but depends upon animal and whether one or two techs is involved).
Before you know it, another nice person picks you up and takes you to a table. Now, if you know anything about Shiba Inus, we do not like our paws being touched, not one bit! I had to admit I was nervous, but both Mom and Dad were right there keeping their eyes on me. I fixated on them while the tech went to work.
I started to lick my lips and swallowed hard. I was ready to scream, but before I knew it, they were almost done. Wait…what just happened? They used this fancy tool that smooths the nails rather than clips them. I felt nothing, and because of my hearing loss, I didn’t hear much either.
I briefly looked over to see another dog getting a haircut. Looking dapper buddy! Panic – where is Mom and Dad? Oh, they haven’t moved. I’m okay; everything is okay. I was done. Boom!
The tech picked me up and brought me over to Mom and Dad. I wiggled a little, but she held firm and lowered me down. Although she was sweet, I furred her! Yes, I admit it. I left a whole lot of me on her. Take that!
I walked out with my head held high. I didn’t whimper, wine, or scream. I took it like a brave doggo. Now where’s my treat!?? One was waiting for me at home. All is well with the world.
If your pooch or kitty cat needs some grooming, we encourage you to give Desert Pawz a try. They are much cheaper than any vet we have been to, and they get you in quick. They don’t mess around and get you out stat, too. Two paws up!
