Not all adventures are outside, and Thanksgiving is one of them. It’s my most favorite holiday as it centers around eating food! I love turkey, mashed potatoes, and more turkey please!
Our tradition is to hike or run to earn our overeating, so we headed to 7th Avenue and Carefree for a nice morning hike. The balloons were out. They are pretty to look at, but I don’t like hearing them as that squishing sound hurts my ears. They kept their distance, and I was off to sniff and say hello.
We did the short loop, but it has a steep hill at the beginning (the road) so you at least feel like you got some cardio in. It loops back to the parking lot for a total of 2 miles. This was just right for the big day we had planned. This year, we hosted at our house. My daddy vacuumed up all my fur. Man. It was just getting good and furry! Oh well, I had my bling on and was ready. My mom cooked up a feast, and friends came over. The little humans surprised me and dressed up as cops and robbers. Was I being arrested? I didn’t know, but we had fun running around the house together. Woof!
The little guy got so tuckered out that he fell asleep during dinner. Say what? Can I have his turkey please? After an awesome meal (thank you mom!), I joined my brother for a nap. Besides turkey, that’s the best part of Thanksgiving!
The next day, I woke ready to go. Dad took me to the park, and mom stayed behind. She was transforming our house from Thanksgiving to Christmas—her favorite holiday. When we got home, I smelled more turkey. Mom decided to cook up a second one. Awoof! How exciting! Turkey leftovers, turkey soup, turkey potpie…heaven.
Yes, life is good. Some adventures are right in your own home with family and friends…and turkey. Happy holidays!
Hi! I am Kumaito (Kuma for short), a multi-tan Shiba Inu. My breed is one of the oldest and purest from Japan. I personally was born in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, moved to Friendswood, Texas, and now call Phoenix, Arizona home. I enjoy running or hiking almost every day with my mom, chasing rabbits out of my neighborhood, playing with toys, pestering my brother Edmond, eating, napping … well, I love just about everything and everyone!
My mom, Lorraine Bossé-Smith (Founder of the FIT Leader Formula™) is kind enough to help me share my Great Adventures, big and small. My mom is a motivational speaker, corporate trainer, business consultant, executive coach, behavioral-wellness expert, and author of eight published books. More importantly, she’s the best doggy mom ever!
