My mom sure works hard keeping her business going. I don’t know or understand all she does, but I sure appreciate her assistance with my blogs and articles. She also helps people stay healthy by teaching fitness classes, and lately she has been teaching extra ones. She takes care of me and my brother: water, food, pets, play, walks…and vet visits. We have a great vet (Dr. Grossman), but I don’t always enjoy being poked. He’s kind and gentle…but I am digressing. Mom does all the shopping, cooking, and planning for our adventures. When the long weekend approached, I heard the word “camping” and knew that meant heading up to cooler temps.
However, my poor mom tuckered out. By the time she got her business work done, it was late. She still had to shop and pack everything up for all of us. She just didn’t have it in her. Instead of being disappointed, me and my dad decided hanging out at home was its own kind of adventure.
It began when mom took her Acura to 4 Sons to be cleaned. I sat right up and watched as we entered the carwash. Even when she is tired, mom is fun! She began singing the carwash song as we went through. “Going through the carwash, yeah…”
With a sparkling clean car, we headed up to Anthem. Camping is awesome, but I sure do love visiting the grass at the park. It was hot and humid, so we didn’t walk the biggest loop. In fact, I found shade and plopped down to cool off. We hung out watching birds, people, and other dogs.
Saturday mom and I took a nap. Oh, how I love naps! We hung out by the pool, and our neighbors came over to join us. Well them, not me. I don’t do pools. I’ll jump in lakes, streams, rivers and even mud holes but I don’t do pools. End of story. Sunday, we watched a bunch of movies. Don’t ask me which ones because I can’t remember. I must have dozed off again. Hey, don’t judge me. I was just into the whole chilling groove! Woof!
Monday morning, we got up early to hit the trail. Wasn’t this supposed to be a day of rest? I guess that meant mom was feeling better. Since it was gonna be another scorcher, we did the small loop at 7th Avenue (about 2 miles). You know you are up and out early when you see the hot air balloons. They try to beat the heat, too. They sure are pretty, but when they get too close, their sound hurts my ears. Thankfully, these ones were in the distance.
We made a donut run. Mom gets the cream filled kind, and they are the best. Yum! Then we headed back to our yard where we relaxed the day away. You know me, I am always up for a grand adventure. Sometimes, though, we don’t have to look past our own home to find one. I am one blessed dog! Hope you had a safe and happy holiday weekend.
Hi! I am Kumaito (Kuma for short), a multi-tan Shiba Inu. My breed is one of the oldest and purest from Japan. I personally was born in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, moved to Friendswood, Texas, and now call Phoenix, Arizona home. I enjoy running or hiking almost every day with my mom, chasing rabbits out of my neighborhood, playing with toys, pestering my brother Edmond, eating, napping … well, I love just about everything and everyone!
My mom, Lorraine Bossé-Smith (Founder of the FIT Leader Formula™) is kind enough to help me share my Great Adventures, big and small. My mom is a motivational speaker, corporate trainer, business consultant, executive coach, behavioral-wellness expert, and author of eight published books. More importantly, she’s the best doggy mom ever!
