I wrote an article on Real Power many years ago in reference to true leadership and how it is about influence, not power. Fast forward today, and I see power in all the wrong places with a lack of genuine leadership. It seems power is the end goal, and we are all suffering at its hands.
Let’s look at doctors for a moment. I’m not referring to every single one since that is impossible for me to do. I only have my references, and most of them have been power hungry. I am blessed, however, to have a handful of “healers” who truly want to help people. When you look back at the evolution of modern medicine, doctors were the lowest of the low, paid by chicken eggs, cow’s milk or vegetables for saving people’s lives. They used whatever was at their disposal to treat and cure people. No one told them what treatment they could try, and they weren’t about power but treating. Today, doctors believe they are gods, and they are given such power that we aren’t in control of our own health anymore. They have been bought and paid for my pharmaceutical companies. Don’t believe me? Look at the curriculum, and most of what they are being taught is provided by pharmaceutical companies. Gone are the days of looking to cure but rather just treat the symptoms. Why? Sick people make our country BILLIONS of dollars. And what drug companies don’t control, the insurance companies do. How did they get so powerful and determine what we can and cannot do for our own well-being?
Fauci, for goodness sake, hasn’t practiced medicine in 30 years, yet he has been given enormous power over our lives. What he says goes, and he is completely out of touch. Fact check it. What happened to power of the people? We gave it away.
Our founding Fathers knew that power was corrupt and could change good men into evil ones. George Washington was loved and adored to the point that the people pleaded with him to be their King. His response? “No man should have that much power.” Look at Nancy Pelosi. She even looks evil! Power has consumed every fiber of her body, and she just wants more. It’s a lust that cannot be quenched, and we keep giving her more power.
At what point do we decide to take the power back to the people? Even some churches beat congregations down and tell them they are worthless creatures without God in an attempt to control and gain power. Since God created us, how can we be garbage? Sinners, yes, but we are made in His image. I bought into that for some time until I broke free of the bondage. It was all about men seeking power, and that isn’t of God.
The trouble with power is once people have it, they will do everything to protect it. In corporate America, leaders turn into Atilla the Hun when their silos of power are threatened. What started off as a position of leadership becomes hording power over people for the control – the fix. Anytime power is the goal, we all lose.
In small ways, we need to make efforts to reclaim on own power. We have a voice in regards to our own health. We have the right to challenge so-called experts when our health is involved. This is where the Internet is a great tool to inform and educate us of our options. When I opted for natural treatment of my Rheumatoid Arthritis because I wanted to cure it, not treat it, the RA doctor was so ticked off at my defying her authority that she told me, “I hope you die.” That’s someone wrapped up into their title and power, not helping people.
We must not just vote but be informed voters. We must do the due diligence and understand not only the measures but the consequences and long-term affects of the bill. We have to stop voting by emotion and buying into rhetoric and propaganda by stepping back to evaluate, assess and discern the facts. We have to stop giving power to those who abuse it!!
Use our feet to walk away from those who seek to control us for the sake of power. Great leaders must stay diligent in their growth for power can consume any of us. “There by the grace of God go I!” When the turn is made to pursue power, all will be lost. Good employees will quit because they leave leaders, not companies. Cultures will be destroyed, creativity stifled, and all energy will be consumed to feed the power.
As a country, we need to remember our Constitutional rights – a government for the people and by the people. Politicians are supposed to be public servants not power-hungry brokers attempting to shut down our economy, control our bodies and tell us what we can and cannot do with our lives. I plead with you to do what you can to regain your own power. No one can take it from you; you gave it away. The good news is you can take it back, one small piece at time. Will you join me?
The truth is that the ultimate power goes to God. He is the one we should be entrusting, not the government. Do you hear me churches? We do not serve our government but our Heavenly Father. He is who we should want to please, not politicians. We seem to care more about getting likes on Facebook than we do about serving the Almighty God who created us. We are living in fear of offending someone or breaking a rule that has no Constitutional merit rather than being bold in our faith – walking by it and not by sight. That’s messed up! If not us then who will be the light to world? I’m calling on all Christians to step up and step out in faith!
