Today was one of those days where I was totally unmotivated, low energy and had those whiney voices in my head: “I don’t feel like exercising, and you can’t make me!”
Over the holidays, I watched “Here Comes Santa Clause” and so that song popped in my head: “Put one foot in front of the other, and soon you’ll be walking out that door…” Fine. I would put my running shoes on and get out there.
I told myself I could just run to the corner…then to the light…then to the next intersection, etc. Eventually, I did go 4 miles. I certainly didn’t break any speed records, but I consider this a victory when all I really wanted to do was go back to bed with my excuses.
When we don’t choose exercise one day, we make it easier to decide to not exercise another day. We get out of the habit. Remind yourself, as I did, that something IS better than nothing and just put one foot in front of the other…you can do it!
Sometimes, we feel as if we just don’t have the time to exercise. My booklet, Finding Time to Be FIT! helps you gain that time by managing your time and life more efficiently. It’s full of great, easy-to-apply ideas. Get your copy today!
