I was recently complemented for how I seem to find God in the most unusual places. Any movie I watch or song I hear, I can discover God in and through it. I appreciate the kind words, and I share my insights through my blogs and vlogs, so I hope you see Him, too. Any of us can see God in everything. We simply need to open our hearts and spirit to Him.
I firmly believe all things come from God. Every talent and gift we have comes from Him, so even if we choose not to acknowledge Him, He is there. Even when people decide to sing against Him or create anti-God movies, He is there.
When we accept Christ as our Savior, we are members of His family. We become entrenched in His word, and we are privy to His insights through the Holy Spirit. Some just can’t see or understand it because they haven’t made the leap of faith yet…but He wants them to.
I feel when I share from movies and music, everyone has access to them. Although Christian movies and music are wonderful, those who need it the most don’t hear or see them. They avoid them because they are still controlled by dark forces.
I also don’t want the devil to get credit for what God has done. God created us, and only He can give abilities. All satan can do is manipulate, warp, and pervert those things. Have you thought about that? When I hear music, I don’t care if it is Christian or not because I hear God in all of it! Certainly, the lyrics of Christian artists lift my spirits and sooth my soul, but all music can speak to my heart because I look for God in it.
Not everyone can handle R-rated movies nor should they. I used to be one of them because I bought the lie that they were all just evil. They are only as bad as the power we give them. I missed some incredible stories and messages back in the day because I wouldn’t watch anything R-rated. I won’t watch horror films simply because I don’t like them, but I try to be open-minded for the rest. I toss what doesn’t work for me, and I seek to find the message God has for me. He never lets me down!
I am grateful we have more Christian content, too. We need to keep ourselves strong, and they can fill us up. We are in a battle, but we will not win it if we remain safe in our Christian circles. The lost our outside of the church’s walls, and we need to meet them where they are at the moment.
I have found conversations about movies are a great ice breaker and open doors to deeper conversations. I can tell them what I saw (God), and they can share what they gleamed from the movie. We can be on different pages but share a common interest in the movie. A little ground is gained, and we can work on growing the relationship. If we expect them to come to us, we aren’t listening to God at all!
Seeing God in nature is easy. After all, He created the entire universe! Seeing God in manmade things might be more difficult for you, but I encourage you to look. Allow your heart to feel His heartbeat in secular songs. Appreciate the talent He bestowed and celebrate Him!
