Kuma heads to Greer, Arizona

Kuma by Little Colorado River

I don’t like storms much, but mom and dad were sure glad when the monsoons finally arrived the other day. We got an inch of rain! The next day, we loaded up the camper and headed toward Greer, Arizona. We traveled once to Big Lake, and I remember it taking forever to get there, so […]

Kuma enjoys Granite Basin Lake

Granite Basin Lake

Can it get any hotter? Mom says it was 130 degrees at Death Valley the other day. Well, duh! Death by heat! No thanks. We’ve been struggling to find places that are cooler this summer, and we decided to give Prescott a try this past weekend. We got up when it was still dark – […]

Riverbend Ponds Natural Area in Fort Collins, CO

Kuma at Riverbend Ponds

Did you know that I am a Colorado dog? I was born in Denver, Colorado, September of 2008. Hi Grandma Beth! Can I really be that old? I don’t feel it – never better! Anyway, when the temperatures here in Phoenix rise, I often find myself wishing Colorado was a little closer. Don’t get […]

Happy Mother’s Day @ Lynx Lake

Lynx Lake in Prescott

This past weekend was Mother’s Day. I don’t really remember my doggy mom as I left her when I was only eight weeks old. I have a toy in my kennel from my days with her, and it reminds me to be grateful for her giving life to me. I sort of remember Beth who […]

A picnic at Bartlett Lake

Kuma and his mom

Spring is here in the desert! The yellow flowers are everywhere…except where my mom wanted to see them. Doh! We went for a flower hike on Friday near our house, and the flowers were beautiful. Thanks to all the Forever FIT folks who joined us! On Saturday, we thought we’d head to Bartlett Lake […]

Kuma checks out Chaparral Park in Scottsdale

Chaparral Park in Scottsdale

Mom and dad had a late night on Friday. Apparently, they helped the Phoenix Suns win a basketball game by high-fiving them as they entered the court. Well done! I knew mom would want to sleep in, so I wasn’t expecting an adventure, but as usual, she surprised me. After a yummy, leisurely breakfast, we […]

Kuma camps at White Horse Lake

Kuma explore White Horse Lake

When mom and dad grab food from the frig and stock the camper, I know we are heading on another adventure. With the temperatures in the triple digits here in Phoenix, heading north to cool off is always a good plan. This trip we were headed to White Horse Lake near Williams, Arizona. Dad […]

Kuma walks around Lake Estes

Snow capped peaks

This past weekend, my dad got the boat ready and hooked up to the car. I got excited to go on an adventure of the boating kind. The doorbell rang, and two adult humans with two little ones arrived. These kids were full of energy and immediately began chasing me around the house…and I loved […]

Kuma at Chambers Lake in Colorado

Chambers Lake in Colorado

Boy is it hot this summer. I’m kinda missing the cooler temps of Colorado, although I hear they are having a heat wave as well. With the mountains, though, you can often find some cooler spots…like Chambers Lake. Chambers Lake & Campground is located approximately 60 miles north of Fort Collins Visitors enjoy the area […]

Kuma goes to Flatiron Reservoir in Northern Colorado

Good fishing at Flatiron Reservoir in No Colo

Summer means heading to the hills to cool off, and a nice quiet spot is a 47-acre reservoir fit for fishing. Unfortunately, no boats or swimming is allowed, but the shady trees provide an excellent place for a picnic. That’s what me and my family did one afternoon. We headed to Flatiron Reservoir, part […]

I recently watched the movie, The Boy in the Stripped Pajamas, a 2008 movie based in the World War II era. It follows a German family who moves so the father can take his new post at a “farm” which is really an extinction camp. The movie is complex and shows multiple sides of the issue from the innocent Jews forced to give up their livelihoods for hard labor to the wife of the German soldier trying to raise her children in the midst of a dark period in history....www.lorrainebosse-smith.com/hatred-will-be-our-undoing/ ...
