Since the first Matrix movie came out in 1999, I found it interesting that the red pill represented truth while the blue bill was deceit, lies, manipulation and control…the matrix. I saw the new and fourth installment of the series this weekend with Keanu Reeves: Matrix Resurrection. I had to rewatch all the others to refresh my mind, and I am glad I did. If you’ve seen them, you know they are complex with much to follow and consider. If you go and see it without having seen the first three, you will definitely be lost.
Without giving the movie away, I wanted to share what struck me from this movie, which takes place some 60 years later. Neo finds himself living the lie and is once again plugged into the matrix. Replace matrix with “government,” and you will have a better understanding of the movie and the ramifications for where we are headed. Like many people today, Neo doesn’t know he is living a lie. It is all he knows; it is what it is. He accepts what he is told without any discernment or question.
Folks, we ARE plugged into technology far more than we should be, but we were told we can’t live without it. Our lives depend upon it. From the moment e-mail was invented, I cautioned people to remember technology was designed to serve us, not enslave us. We would do well to acknowledge that fact because all of it is a distraction from the truth. In the matrix movies, AI has taken over completely, and there is no humanity left. Not only are we giving up our rights for privacy with the use of technology, but we are giving up our freedoms to our matrix: the government.
The movie is about Neo having to choose truth (red pill) or continue to be manipulated, controlled, used and deceived (the blue pill). In fact, he is taking blue pills every day because his doctor said so. Don’t see the similarity yet? A majority of Americans are taking blue pills/drugs that keep them subdue and compliant. Read the side effects of most drugs, and they alter your normal personality…your desire for living. What makes us human is slowly being eradicated with the goal of a compliant society. When we are submissive and easy to control, government takes over. An elite few get all the power, and we are pawns.
As I watched Neo basically living out a Groundhog Day (movie with Bill Murray where he repeats the same day over and over again), I was shaken to my core. We are being fed fear that keeps us from breaking free. We are told what to buy, eat, and how to live our lives so that we don’t think for ourselves anymore. We are repeating behaviors simply because we were told to, and we are becoming the matrix. We exist to line the pockets of the few, the elite…the politicians and the government. History is repeating itself. Please wake up!
The hope and amazing part of the movie is the power of love. Neo goes to the ends of the earth to find Trinity, his true love. The dark forces are against him and rage a battle to keep them apart. Fact: Evil will always attack forces for good because it threatens their agenda! Stepping out of line and against their wishes shows their ugly heads! Those of us who won’t comply know this, but many are still plugged into the matrix and can’t see it.
In Matrix Resurrection, it is pure love that gives Neo the courage to seek the truth once again, but unlike last time, truth alone isn’t enough. It isn’t just about choosing; it is about choosing love.
We just celebrated the birth of Jesus, the One who loved us enough to give up all His heavenly privileges to come to earth as a fragile, vulnerable baby so that one day, He could die on the cross for our sins. His love saves us, and to this day, that is a truth. Matrix Resurrection reminds us that with God’s love, ALL things are possible. But—and this is a big but—we have to choose Him. He doesn’t force Himself upon us. We can remain in the dark or we can seek the light. Will you choose the Red or the Blue pill?
One path will be more comfortable because you will feel like you fit in. Our world is very dark these days, and you’ll get tons of likes on social media because you are being compliant and doing what you are told, regardless if it is actually good for you or not. The other path will be harder, but it has light and is real. It is truth…it is love. Jesus didn’t take the easy way out. He suffered to the bitter end. When I feel the opposition and conflict of standing up for my human rights and speaking truth, I consider myself in excellent company. What company are you keeping?
I pray 2022 holds a breakthrough for us all…a resurrection of truth and love…a revival that takes us back to the basics and the core of what we should be as a human race. For those who still have the wool pulled over their eyes, as Jesus said on the cross, “Lord forgive them, for they know not what they are doing.” Blessings to you and yours in the New Year!

OMG.. yes girl. Josh and I watched the movie this past Saturday too and we started to go back to rewatch the others as well. I thought they were pretty deep back then and now, 22 years later, it makes so much more sense because – I am older and more aware of the world, what’s going on and who is in control… or rather who is trying to control us. Great post and so much truth of what’s going on right now. Between is another good one (Netflix) to check out… 2 seasons, about a virus, manipulation, control, big pharma, govt… and so much ties into what hell we are all living now. Step up and control your own life people.

Thanks for this, Lorraine. We’re planning to watch this movie but I already decided I want to watch the other three again just so I remember what’s going on. One down, two more to go and then we’ll go to the theater to see the new one. I love the spiritual analogy you made in your blog. Happy New Year!
