We are quickly approaching Christmas, the celebration of Jesus’ birthday! However, we cannot remember His birth without considering His death on the cross for our sins. He came to earth for a purpose: to save us.
While we exchange gifts, He gave the greatest one of all…His life for ours. This is the truth of the season, and while we may partake in the festivities, let us not forget the real reason for Christmas. Luke 2:9-11, NIV: “An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.”
I find being a Christian is becoming more difficult these days, especially on social media. The darkness does not like the light because even the slightest of light can push away the darkness. This is why some attack and show hate. John 15:18-19 addresses this and, in essence tell us, “The world hates believers because they are different.”
Well, we should be different. People should see something about us that isn’t conforming to the world, and our inner peace should shine outwardly for others to see. We don’t have to be perfect, but we should live a life aligned with God and His commandments.
I’ve long said if you are doing God’s work, prepare yourself for attacks! I was reminded recently from Pastor Ryan #northvalleychurch how only those who are a threat to satan will be persecuted. I paused and reflected on the very difficult years we have had, and I viewed it as a complement instead of a negative. What a major shift!
Well-meaning peopled have shared how they thought we maybe did something wrong or ticked God off to deserve such struggles. Yet, I know I have upped my game. Since 2020, I committed my writing to God and His messages, not mine. I have been obedient, and I’m getting satan’s attention. Combine this with a powerful message in my book, Defy Your Diagnosis, and I have indeed been under attack: personally, and professionally. However, this puts me in very good company as Jesus was persecuted for “being different” and “the light!”
Feeling some resistance and strain might just mean you are exactly where God wants you. Take heart and have hope! You ARE making a difference in the battle of good vs evil. If things are going swimmingly, perhaps you are lukewarm and not on fire for God? Worth considering what you could do that is bolder and braver for His Kingdom.
Please don’t cower and cave in to political correctness just to fit in. We aren’t of this world, and we were never designed to fit in. We were made to stand out! The louder the opposition screams at you most likely means you are shining your faith light so brightly, it is burning into their soul. Keep the faith my friends.
The world wants you to believe all sorts of truths exist. You can have your own truth, but the fact remains: we have only one truth, and it was given to us in a babe, born in a manger.
As Christians, we are going against the flow and the masses. They are trying to remove Christ from Christmas, and they will do everything to distract us. Hold steady and be firm in your faith!
As you set your 2024 goals, why not commit to diving into God’s word more. If you do, you won’t be surprised by the darkness consuming the world. Instead, you will be filled with hope and equipped to face the challenge knowing God is for you and not against you!
I wish you a Merry Christmas! Take time to look up and thank God for the Christmas gift of Jesus. Need help with your goals? I’d be happy to help you set ones that push you toward growth and excellence. I can also be a cheerleader and accountability partner for you. Let’s talk after the holidays!
