I was just interviewed by Pearls of Wisdom (www.pearlsofpromiseministries.com) about my life and how I healed from the abuse, trauma and health issues I faced. Check their website in a couple of weeks, and it should be available. I will also post it on my website and social media.
During our conversation, I brought up numerous times how I had to lean into God and listen. Praying is active and is often us talking to God rather than talking with. We can forget to shut our mouths and listen to what He has to tell us. When we are stressed and life is tough, it is then we must really listen.
For me, God would remind me to let go of the things I was trying to carry and give them to Him. He was more than able to carry my burdens that were crushing me. He would also tell me how much He loved me and that with Him, all things are possible – not some things, not just my messy life – ALL things. My brokenness is made whole with God’s help.
In light of everything going on and post-election, I think it is time to take some inventory. I’m not talking about your possessions, but I am referring to a spiritual inventory. How are you and God doing? When was the last time you spent quality time with Him and quiet enough to hear Him? Church is great, but it often doesn’t allow time to seek the Holy Spirit. Our church carves out time each and every service for just that, and I love it! But a few minutes every Sunday isn’t enough. We each must check in with the Father on a regular basis.
Feeling lost? Not sure where or how to pivot due to Covid-19? Listen and see what God says. Discouraged, depressed and lacking hope? Check in with the Father and see what He has to say about that. I personally find that yoga is a great way to quiet the mind enough to allow God in. We are busy, active people, and silencing our multi-tasking minds is no easy feat. Besides, aches and pains can creep in that distract us, and stretching is a wonderful way to loosen up muscles and relax.
My DVD Yoga with Lorraine (Yoking Ourselves with God Always) does just that and offers two programs – one for total relaxing and the other for strengthening. Seek and you shall find, but you must first be quiet enough to hear where to look!
