The monsoons are definitely here! We’ve had wicked winds blowing everything into the pool and finally got some rain this weekend. The weather brought us some wild guests: one snake and one baby owl! They both startled us, that is for sure. This was a reminder to mom and dad to watch their footing when heading outside. Dad almost stepped on the snake, which thankfully wasn’t a rattler. Nonetheless, mom got me back in the house stat! We don’t like snakes, not one bit. The owl was in the garage, and he seemed pretty cool. He eventually flew away.
Speaking of our part of town, I thought I would share about a local favorite of mine: the Tramonto path. If you are coming from the south, take I-17 north to the Carefree Highway exit and head east to N. Via Puzzola (second light I believe) and turn left. Follow the road through the football or island and look for W. Eagle Claw Drive and turn left with an immediate right into the free parking lot for the Tramonto pool. Most spots are in the shade, but the restrooms can only be accessed by residents who have a key. Plan accordingly.
The path is directly behind the pool; you walk around the kid’s jungle gym to connect to it. The path is paved, and because it meanders through the Tramonto development, it has lots of shade. After a rain like we just had, there might be some flooding and mud on the path.
From the pool area, go straight on the path. You’ll see several intersections that allow residents to pick up the path, but you will want to keep going straight until you come to a street to cross. As you cross, go to your right toward the elementary school. Now you can follow the path around the Tramonto Park, which is .66 or 1 mile if you go around it twice.
The park has grass, so I always enjoy the feel of it on my paws. There are some covered picnic tables should you want to take a break. The human restrooms here are open to the public. You’ll notice a parking lot here, too. You could certain park here and walk around, but when you park at the pool, you get a little extra distance.
Early in the mornings, a group of people bring their dogs for a play date. I’ve met a lot of them, although we haven’t stayed to play. Mom is usually on a time table for us to get back. The loop has some equipment stops should you want to do some exercises like sit ups or pull ups.
As you come around the other side, keep an eye out for the yellow school crossing sign on the other side of the road. This is your landmark to cross and get back on the path back to the pool parking lot.
Depending upon the time of day, you’ll be greeted by barking dogs who live along the path. Most are friendly and are just saying hello. I lived by a path once, and it is very difficult for a dog not to bark when you walk right by his property. It’s in our DNA – woof!
With the temperatures and humidity up, you’ll wan to get out early or save it for later in the day. Make sure you have water for you and your pup, too. We usually see bunnies and the occasional road runner while out, but like we were reminded, snakes live among us. Keep your eyes peeled and be safe!
